Family, heartbreak, drama, Flipped brought it all into 205 pages. 7 year old Juli gets a new neighbor named Bryce, and immediately wants to be his friend. She was more of a stalker than a friend through up until 7th or 8th grade when people were trying to cut down Julie's beloved Sycamore tree, the bus was pulling up and Julie begged Bryce to come up with her. He got in the bus, she was mad but what really pushed her over the edge was when Bryce and his friends talk about her uncle in the library. Julie wasn't talking to Bryce even when the families met for dinner, so he slid into her old spot.

This author wrote this book and succeeded. Everyone's saying Flipped was a great and touching book for them! For example, the Sycamore tree, it was just a random useless object in the book, but it meant something more, when the Sycamore tree was cut down, Julie and Bryce drifted apart, but when a new one was planted, they were brought back together. That shows that the Sycamore tree is a metaphor for bringing people or things back together.

I recommend Flipped for 4th grade or really mature third graders and up, even if you are 9 or 90, you will love Flipped! It isn't a read aloud book, it is more of a better read-on-your-own kinda book.

This author didn't only make a bestselling book, people recognized it and made it a movie!
